Guitar Lessons - Moving Chromatic Scale

Did you master the Chromatic scale on the last lesson. If you did this is the next step. It's called a moving chromatic scale and it builds from the foundation you learned with the chromatic scale lesson.

Follow the bouncing ball:

This is the same scale played in the 5th position up and back down the scale. You then move up one position to the 6th fret and repeat the scale. Just keep moving the scale up one position after completing the ascending and descending scale. You can start at any fret and end at the 12th fret. Again this is a great lesson for working out your fingering. You play almost every possible note on the guitar.

If you can work this out then you're ready to ROCK. Start slow and steady and then add a little speed every day. Pluck every note (alternate picking). Use a metronome or drum machine or play with a drummer. Keep your timing and rhythm tight. Yes this is very boring stuff, but it pays off big time! Your confidence will sore and you'll make quick progress in learning how to play the guitar.

The biggest reason most new guitar player quit is because they lack patience and rush to do things they are not ready for. Work on chords, chord changes, pentatonic and chromatic scales a little everyday and you will progress faster than if you just try to start playing your favorite song.
